Construction on the future $200 million headquarters of motorsports organization Andretti Global in Fishers, Ind., is moving forward after a months-long hiatus and a lawsuit filed by a former contractor on the project. The company recently showed off new site designs and announced Clark Construction as the new general contractor.
The plan is to first build a 400,000-square-foot headquarters building on the 90-acre site adjacent to the Indianapolis Municipal Airport. Despite the delay, Andretti Global said the work is still scheduled to be completed in 2025, which is also when it said the work would end when it held a ceremonial groundbreaking in December 2022.
In addition to Clark, the project team includes U.K.-based design firm Ridge and Partners LLP, Indianapolis-based architect of record RATIO and lead project developer Bradford Allen, according to Andretti Global.
Michael Andretti, chief executive officer and president of Andretti Global, said in a statement that the updated designs focus on the company’s goals of creating a healthy workplace for employees and a destination for the community, in addition to focus on the capabilities of your racing teams.
“Since groundbreaking, we’ve taken time to really evaluate and dig into every aspect of the project,” Andretti said.
When work began, Andretti Global had a design and construction team from Indianapolis-based Dillon Construction Group and Studio M Architecture and Planning. Last May, Dillon filed a lawsuit in state court against a company related to Andretti and other companies involved in the project for breach of contract. The lawsuit revealed that Dillon’s contract had been terminated.
The lawsuit is ongoing. Representatives for Dillon and Andretti declined to comment on the case.
Also being planned is the Andretti Experience, a fan-focused part of the complex that the company says will host museum exhibits and events. Representatives for Clark and Andretti did not say whether that work is included in the scope of Clark’s contract.
