The Federal United States Transport Transportation Administration issued a financing opportunity warning for the national railway collaboration program on September 22. The warning means that more than $ 5 billion is available for subsidy awards, including $ 2.4 billion, the agency claims that it was disobeyed by the high -speed rail authority in California that the state agency is recovering.
Subsidies are available for states, tribes, amrak, local governments and others for intercity passenger railway infrastructure projects. In a statement, Drew Feley, a federal railway administrator, emphasized the availability of the grant to improve the safety of the railway passage.
The railway agency originally issued last year’s financing notice as a Ferial Passenger Passenger Intercity subsidiary program and terminated it this month. On January 7, applications under the notice of reissued financing.
The updated warning eliminates references to six executive orders, mainly from the time of Biden, but also establishing equal employment opportunities hiring practices that President Lyndon Johnson signed in 1965. He also incorporated an executive order by President Donald Trump aimed at diversity initiatives.
“Our new national railway collaboration program will emphasize security, our priority number 1,” said transport secretary, Sean Duffy, in a statement.
$ 2.4 billion comes from about $ 4 billion in Dot subsidies were terminated from the California agency in July. It counts the largest piece of financing opportunity. Duffy renamed the 800 -kilometer high -speed high -speed railway system when announcing the warning.
One of the grants from the high -speed railway agency was granted by virtue of the same federal state collaboration for the Passenger Passenger Subsidies Exchange Program.
The California Agency is calling for Dot so that the grant endings are achieved. He also asked a judge to issue a preliminary order that blocked the department of granting the money to another dealership or spending the money elsewhere.
Authority “has been prepared for this possibility and will take imminent legal actions to block this wrong effort by the [railroad administration]”An email spokesman said after the financing announcement.
“The … decision to complete the federal funding for the California High Speed Railway was illegal, unjustified and is challenged in a federal court,” the spokesman said. “Now, the attempt to redirect a part of this funding, currently the subject of litigation, is premature.”
A judge has not yet ruled the presentation of September 22 by Dot lawyers and the railway agency in a motion to dismiss the case.
In the meantime, the construction continues in the initial segment of 171 miles of the High Speed railway system from Merced to Bakersfield. The crews have completed work at almost 70 kilometers of guide and about 60 structures, and 29 structures are under construction in the regions of Madera, Fresno, Kings and Tulare.
The State Agency has also received an environmental authorization for 463 miles from the 494 mile line between San Francisco and Los Angeles/Anaheim.
