This first 40-acre mixed-use development in Las Vegas combines more than 500,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment along with thoughtfully designed residential and office space. Completed in three phases on an active, public-facing campus, security became a key priority.
Construction zones were cut off from the public to safely separate pedestrians and tenants from work zones without disrupting daily activity. The dense, city-style design and limited layout space also created logistical constraints, which the team addressed through the strategic deployment of Potain tower cranes. Operated remotely from the adjacent leased property, the cranes minimized the site footprint and supported efficient site logistics.
Technical complexities arose in the adjoining commercial spaces, especially when timber and steel components were coordinated between high ceilings. The team resolved these issues through the efforts of VDC and close collaboration with the steel contractor.
A comprehensive VDC strategy strengthened communication and decision-making processes, while a drone program provided aerial mapping, progress monitoring and video footage. UnCommons is the first development in Nevada built to WELL certification requirements, featuring a drought-tolerant, desert-friendly landscape with artificial vegetation selected to minimize water use.
LED lighting and heat-reducing roller blinds in residential spaces improve energy efficiency all year round.
