Bam Nuttall is putting a road construction project behind schedule, National Highways has announced.
The plan to build a link road between the M54 and M6, valued at between £175m and £200m, includes a new link road of approximately 2.5km between the two motorways, as well as new links.
The transport secretary granted planning consent in April 2022 after a six-month postponement of the decision due to “environmental considerations”.
National Highways announced a further delay in October, saying preparatory work would start in 2023, rather than 2022 as planned, to allow “more detailed designs” to be completed.
The body has now said that it has been reviewing how it will work with its supply chain “so that the construction of the program has as little impact as possible on the local community and the environment. As a result, Bam Nuttall Ltd’s involvement in this project will come to an end.”
National Highways regional delivery manager Anita Prashar said: “We are working with our supply chain to identify a new delivery partner for the scheme and will establish when construction will start as soon as possible.
“We are committed to building this link road, separating local and long-distance traffic and improving journey times.”
In recent months, Costain and Galliford Try have also left National Highways contracts. The agency did not comment on the reasons for these departures when contacted Construction news.
Bam Nuttall has been approached for comment.
