Eastern Municipal Water District awarded Scorpion Backhoe Inc. the contract to build the Holland Road recycled water pipe crossing. A 5-0 EMWD board vote on Wednesday, Feb. 7 approved a $226,700 construction contract with Hemet-based Scorpion Backhoe. The action also approved a contract modification with Cozad & Fox, also a Hemet company, to add engineering and surveying services during the construction phase. Cozad & Fox’s amendment adds $11,876 to the contract, bringing the total agreement with that company to $38,861, and the board’s authorization to appropriate $305,764 for the project also covers permits, land services, costs of inspection, internal labor and a contingency of $22,670.
