A new episode of First Site, Construction News’ The monthly podcast sponsored by equipment hire specialist Speedy Hire went live this morning (September 20).

Coinciding with the launch of our latest annual CN100 index of the UK’s top performing contractors*, CN Deputy Editor Ben Vogel is joined by two experts to discuss the financial and economic issues facing the construction industry.

Max Jones, head of the infrastructure and construction team at Lloyds Bank, and Leighton More, chief financial officer at Sir Robert McAlpine, discuss some of the macroeconomic and industry-specific pressures affecting contractors.

They also assess the current construction economic climate and assess the near-term outlook for the construction industry as it faces a challenging 2024.
