The construction backlog indicator reached 8.5 months in September, according to a survey of associated builders and contractors (ABC). The figure shows no change with respect to the previous month. Since September 2024, the backlog has dropped 0.1 months.
A main source of promotion of the current industry is data centers he said Anirban Basu, an ABC chief economist, in a statement. “About one in five contractors was hired to work on a data center project in September. Although it is a slightly lower quota in August, contractors who have work at the Data Center had a significantly higher delay [12 months] than those who did not do [8 months]. “”
By sector, a commercial and institutional decline and a heavy industrial backlog have fallen into 0.4 and 1.3 months, respectively, since September 2024. The infrastructure backlog grew 1.6 months in the same period of time.
ABC’s confidence index for September showed reading for each component (profit, staff and sales margins), more than 50 years were created, showing that the survey participants expect business to grow in the coming months.
“The fall of employment throughout the industry, a lack of work openings and the continuous decrease in construction expenditure has not decreased the recoil or confidence of the ABC contractor member,” said Basu. In addition to the high volume of construction of the data center, “the activity of the public sector has remained much better than its private counterpart, and this supports a high delay in the category of infrastructure”.
