The new home of the Salt Lake Triple-A Bees is now the centerpiece of a 200-acre mixed-use urban center in South Jordan, Utah. This 8,000-seat stadium includes field-level VIP suites, club areas, and a 12,000-square-foot clubhouse with practice facilities and batting cages.
To ensure completion in time for April 2025, the pitch turf needed to be in place by mid-October 2024, so the building went up from the outside. Once the construction of the field began, no one could enter its surface. The structural steel went up on the outside, and prefabricated seating for the club level was brought in from the outside. Although the team planned to begin construction in December 2023, the first building permit was not issued until February 2024. This further compressed the schedule and required re-sequencing.
The project also incorporated 3D printed concrete into the seating walls and planters. Made in collaboration with local manufacturer Pikus 3D, this technique reduced material use, reduced waste by 16%, shortened construction time and avoided cracking problems. A distinctive facade was designed with perforated metal panels that transform into a glowing display at night, serving as a lantern on the stadium’s “front porch” and welcoming visitors.
