Bengaluru: A father-son duo has been arrested by the Rajankunte police for allegedly setting up a backhoe on fire while opposing an invasion clearance unit carried out by the Bangalore District Administration.
The incident took place in Shivakote village in Taluk Yelahanka Wednesday. The driver of the vehicle narrowly escaped after the duo threw bottles filled with petrol and kerosene and set him on fire. Following a complaint by the Yelahanka tahsildar, the police lodged an FIR against C Bachegowda and his son Chethan.
The duo also verbally abused the tax officials who were clearing encroachment on a road.
Finance Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said, “Those involved in setting fire to vehicles while driving have been arrested. Strict action will be taken against those involved in the crime.”
