Cook says the outlook for Billings and the surrounding area remains steady and cautiously optimistic.
“Publicly funded infrastructure projects continue to move forward in Montana, supported by federal and state programs,” he says.
“In Billings, growth in the West End and regional demand for resilient infrastructure are driving activity. While private development is still tempered by financing costs, public sector work is keeping the market active and competitive,” he adds.
Meanwhile, Billings’ role as a regional center for health care, education and commerce keeps infrastructure and services in demand, Cook says.
“Public funding is a strength, with transport and airport projects progressing at a strong pace. [while] The water and wastewater work has slowed down a bit after ARPA’s big investments in recent years,” he says.
“On the private side, high construction costs and interest rates continue to limit residential and commercial development, [and] competition for skilled labor and professionals remains a challenge,” says Cook.
