Not so long ago, it was unusual to find more than some women working in a specialized trade or running a team in a construction project. Although women only represent about 11% of construction labor, according to the Office of Labor Statistics, it joins the industry each year as superintendents, project managers, department directors, merchants and delegated directors.
By 2025, women not only work to build some of the most important and important projects in the country, but also help to attract others in construction. These leaders serve as mentors, teachers and defenders to help raise the industry and turn it into an attractive career option for other women.
This year, as part of the fifth annual construction champion program of Construction Dive, publishers examined more than 300 entries, examining the impact and depth of each candidate’s experience, as well as their commitment to leadership and mentoring. Were nominated in five categories:
Stars rising – Although they are still in their construction career, these women have already marked the industry.
Current leaders -They are known as workers’ change agents in their companies and the largest construction community.
Mentors – These women not only help others to enter the industry, but have long struggled to make it a better place for everyone who works there.
Leaders of Traders – They use their hands and heads to shape commercial construction and promote the professional benefits of industry for all.
Veterans of industry – These women are stops from the industry, known in their fields and respected by those who work with them.
The 31 women with talent selected as building champions this year are brilliant examples of how intuition, dedication and intelligence make the industry a more diverse, productive and welcoming place for all.
