CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) โ€” A train hit a backhoe at a construction site Monday afternoon.

On Monday, Chattanooga police said crews were working construction near Old Hickory Valley Road and Hickory Valley Road.

Around 1:00 p.m., a train hit a man operating a backhoe.

The man who operates the heavy machinery is 52 years old. Police did not release his identity.

Authorities believe the man’s injuries are not life-threatening.

They also speculate that the train operator did not see the construction signals.

Police are still investigating. They have not filed a complaint.
