Ireland has finally erased the road for its largest transport investment, granting a railway order on October 2 that authorizes Dublin Metrolink construction of $ 12.6 million.

The Order, issued by a coimi -Planála coimisiun, serves as a legal approval body of Ireland for railway projects, giving legal authority to the transport infrastructure to build and operate the line.

The 18.8 km driverless metro will connect Dublin airport and the growing rapid swords suburb, north of the airport, in the city center and Charlemont, in the south of the Central Business District.

With 16 stations – 11 underground, the line will be adjusted below the Liffey River to connect the airport traffic, the suburbs of Rodalies and the main business district of Dublin.

According to the Ireland transport infrastructure. The fully automated system is designed to move up to 30 trains per hour in Peak, bringing hundreds of thousands of passengers daily. With an estimate of $ 670 million per kilometer, the costs of Rivals Metrolink on New York City Avenue and place it among the largest in Europe’s larger in Europe, next to the high -speed railway line 2 in the United Kingdom.

The approval allows Ireland infrastructure transportation to go from hiring planning, and works that must begin in 2026. Project archives establish that the alignment will be driven by two tunnel boring machines that dig the glacial land and the underlying hallucan soils, with boring sections reaching 30 meters.

The report of the project of environmental impact assessment of the project, reviewed by Enr, specifies the construction of cut and covered on O’Connell Street and the Green of St. Stephen, where depths of a deep station will be built in the heritage structures.

A settlement, vibration and control of groundwater is required throughout the construction, with mitigation measures to protect historic buildings, public services and surface transport halls. Advance contracts will divert the main public services, carry out archeological research and stabilize heritage assets before the tunnel impulses begin.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland has brought together a team led by Turner & Townsend and WSP to oversee the recruitment and delivery of programs, supported by additional Irish and international consultants. Atkinsrealis has been designated to design anticipated works, while Idom and Jacobs produced engineering studies for tunnels, stations and railway systems.

The contracting of the main civil works will be given in packages. According to public records, no general contractor has been publicly appointed; However, Ireland infrastructure transport has indicated that the tender for basic construction contracts will begin in 2026.

International players are already interest. In September, Alstom announced that he had signed a Memorandum of Entesa with FCC, John Laing, Meridiam and Ratp Dev to offer a design design design package.

The Department of Transportation of Ireland called the approval a milestone of “construction of the nation”. “This project will transform the way we move our capital,” said Transport Minister Eamon Ryan in a statement. The DAA Airport Operator, which will receive a line dedicated to the line, said that Metrolink would improve access for more than 40 million passengers a year.

With the enabled works that are expected to begin next year and the important tunnel to be followed, Ireland Infrastructure Transportation Metrolink projects could open in the early 2030’s.
