For a dozen years, ENR’s Global Best Projects competition has invited industry experts to review a broad pool of entries from around the world and across multiple industries to identify the teams behind outstanding design and construction efforts from last year
For 2024, these judges examined and analyzed the safety performance, innovations, teamwork and excellence of 120 projects, the most entries ENR has ever received.
Of these, 35 projects located in 19 countries have been selected as highlights—illustrating the risks, rewards, and obstacles that are overcome when designing and building internationally—and will be highlighted with more details in the ENR magazine of December 16. This special issue will also name a project that has earned the coveted title of Global Project of the Year.
The competition was judged by Geno Armstrong with KPMG, Michael Cannon of KHS&S Contractors, Ginger Evans of Tower Consulting, Lucas Lacitou with Shikun & Binui Concessions USA Inc., Jon Magnusson of MKA, Tim McManus of the School of Engineering at the University of Columbia, Patrick Natale at United Engineering Foundation, Irena Savakova of Leo A Daly, Hans Van Winkle of Hans Van Winkle Consulting and David White with Jacobs. Find out more about the judges in the December 16 issue of ENR.
The panel had discretion to designate the best selections as winners of the best global projects in various categories and could choose the winners of the Award of Merit as it saw fit. Any judge with a conflict of interest in a particular category was assigned to a different one. To be eligible, construction of an entry had to be completed between January 2023 and May 2024 and could not have a construction-related death.
This year, everyone around the world has the opportunity to celebrate these global construction successes at ENR’s virtual Global Best Projects Awards presentation at no cost. on December 19.
