Construction work was officially taken off on Monday at O’Hare International Airport $ 1.3 billion New DE Terminal D projectsAccording to a statement from the 18th of August of the office of the Mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson.

The New York Skidmore Architecture and Design Firm, Owings & Merrill Terminal designed dWith the assistance of Ross Barney Architects and JGMA from Chicago and based in London, on the project’s website. Concourse D will include 19 new doors designed for narrow body aircraft, with the flexibility of adapting 18 of these doors to nine larger ports that can house large body planes, according to the launch. The planned facilities include more than 20,000 square feet of living room, 30,000 square feet of commercial space and a 450 -foot playground.

The project also involves approximately $ 300 million in improvements related to infrastructure, such as a new central refrigeration facility located in the center of the airport, along with the pavement and useful work to support the next concourse and, according to the statement.

Terminal D is the first of two new satellite competitions provided for in the Order the following modernization effortA series of improvement projects that include:

  • Replacement of terminal 2 with the o’H’Hare Global Terminal.
  • Building the Concourse of 24 Portes E.
  • Build a new underground tunnel to connect the extensive facilities.

The project is expected to believe more than 3,800 construction jobs, according to the launch. The vertical construction will begin in the spring of 2026 and the work is expected to end in 2028.
