Three contractors have won places in a £240 million motorway maintenance framework in Wales.

Tarmac Trading, Centregreat and Alun Griffiths will work in the South Wales Trunk Road Agent (SWTRA) Western, Central and Eastern regions respectively.

The companies will deliver highway maintenance and improvement works, structures and related assets such as land, roads and highway depots in the three regions.

Each of the three batches of the framework will be worth £80m over the next four years.

The SWTRA, which is managed by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, is responsible for managing, maintaining and improving 900km of main roads and motorways in South Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government.

As well as being used by SWTRA and Neath Port Talbot, the framework can be deployed by Carmarthenshire County Council and Monmouthshire County Council.
