The Gateway Development Commission has launched four teams to compete for the part of the New Jersey surface area of the Hudson Tunnel project of $ 16.1 million.
The package of design contracts covers the construction of about 7,450 feet of new track adjoining the northeastern corridor of Secapus and northern Bergen, NJ, which will lead the future tunnel portal. Its area includes the construction of a retaining wall, bridges on a road and other railways, a viaduct that crosses wetlands and other related works such as useful transfers.
The shortlisted teams include George Harms Construction Co. Inc. with Hardesty & Hanover LLC; Halmar International LLC with Civil Jacobs Consultants Inc.; Skanska Creamer-Sanzari NJSA JV, which includes Skanska USA Civil Northeast Inc. with Creamer-Sanzari JV and HNTB Corp.; and Walsh Ferreira JV, which includes Walst Construction Co. LLC with Ferreira Construction Co. Inc. and MOTT MACDONALD NY INC.
Gateway invites pre -selected teams to respond to a proposal request. Commission’s leaders – which New York and New Jersey jointly trained to lead the passenger railway infrastructure projects between Manhattan and Newark, NJ – said that they aim to work on this contract to begin next year.
The Hudson tunnel project adds a new junction under the river between North New Jersey and Pennsylvania station in New York and to rehabilitate the existing North River Tunnel. Gateway has divided the work into several contracts packages.
Last month, Gateway pre -selecting three teams for the contract to build the central part of the tunnel. The commission council also voted to approve a $ 1.2 million design creation contract with Frontier-Kemper-Tutor Perini JV for the Tunnel Manhattan end at a meeting on February 3.
Work is already underway on some portions of the project, including the preparation of the area between the New Jersey planned portal and the end of the surface alignment contracts package.
Gateway provides for the new tunnel opening by 2035. The complete project that includes the rehabilitation of the existing tunnel is expected to be fulfilled by 2038.
