Grill of the city

Beth DiBattista

Beth DiBattista

Vice President and Regional Director of Operations

Turner Construction Co.

DiBattista says energy-efficient buildings designed “toward a net zero goal are trends we continue to see in the area. This includes incorporating renewable energy into the design,” in a move that is “influenced by government codes, energy incentives/rebates, and company social and environmental policies that drive corporate responsibility to combat climate change” .

The upfront costs associated with implementing energy efficiency are a challenge. “Homeowners are working with limited up-front budgets that sometimes take precedence over long-term savings and payback,” says DiBattista. “We work with the owners to create a balance that meets their needs.” He adds that “subcontractors’ local knowledge and experience with new equipment, materials and technologies may also be limited.”

With the public sector thriving and several private projects in the works, work should begin to ramp up in 2025, DiBattista says. “Advanced technology projects receive funding from the state and federal levels,” he says, adding that the local market should benefit from these investments.
