Land and civil engineering contractor NRI Civils has gone into administration.

The Northamptonshire-based company specializes in domestic and commercial works as well as road and sewerage projects.

Earlier this year, it was involved in a troubled Barratt Homes development in Darwin Green, Cambridge, where around 70 new-build homes were scheduled to be demolished after foundation problems were identified.

An application to demolish the houses is still awaiting approval from Cambridge City Council.

NRI also provided foundations for clients including Balfour Beatty, Bellway, Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon, as well as local builder Brampton Valley Homes.

Founded just over 10 years ago, NRI had a turnover of around £20m and employed 11 people.

Insolvency administrator PBC Business Recovery and Insolvency confirmed the company went into administration on November 14 and that Gary Steven Pettit had been appointed administrator.

“Given the urgent nature of the appointment and legal advice being obtained in relation to the realization of some of the company’s assets, the administrator is unable to comment further at this time,” PBC said.
