Big names including Kier, Wates and Morgan Sindall have secured places in an £800m public sector construction framework.
Bam Construction, Bowmer & Kirkland, Brims Construction, Caddick Construction, Equans, Sir Robert McAlpine, Robertson and Tilbury Douglas are also among the 24 contractors, out of 34 proposed firms, that have been appointed for the construction work of the Association of Northeast Councils. panel, which will be used throughout the country.
The selected companies, which include a number of smaller regional contractors, will deliver a range of works over the next six years. This could include the new construction, extension, improvement and rehabilitation of buildings such as schools, hospitals, libraries, social housing and civic facilities.
Some projects could require civil engineering and demolition work, according to an official contract notice posted online on June 6.
The framework is divided into 10 batches, starting with small, hyper-local work and working up to national jobs over £10m.
