Modjeski and Masters support the Department of Transport Idaho as the main consultant for a new bridge on the northern fork of the Payette River in Valley County, Idaho.
In addition to designing the bridge, the team will also help determine the future of the existing Sant Martí Arc Bridge, which currently transports thousands of vehicles daily. Built in 1933, it was the final link of the new state road 55 between Boise and McCall and appears in the National Register of Historical Places.
The bridge will be built on a new alignment adjoining the existing bridge, with projects partners that also include Kimley-Horn, RBCI, NV5, Russo Structures and Environmental Anderson.
The project will be a challenge given its location in a narrow cannon that has a significant inclination. The team’s most critical considerations include access to the contractor, minimizing mountain cuts, construction and programming, given seasonal traffic patterns. The preliminary design part of the project is underway, with the construction scheduled for 2028 to 2029.
