Sundt Construction, Tempe, Arizona, has been promoted to president Cade Rowley to the added role of CEO. Formerly COO, he gets it Mike Hoover in the position of CEO. Hoover is now executive chairman. Rowley had also been president of Sundt’s industrial group, and the company noted its expanded work in markets such as water-wastewater, heavy industrial, mining and advanced facilities. Rowley, who was also senior vice president of Sundt’s transportation group, is a current board member of The Beavers, a professional heavy construction group, and also co-chairs the Greater Phoenix Transportation Leadership Task Force. Sundt also promoted Ash Benny to senior vice president of the transportation group, leading operations and growth in the Intermountain region that includes Utah, Idaho and Montana. He joined Sundt in 2019.
WE O’Neil Construction has promoted Todd Guthrie to the director of operations. He was regional president for Arizona, Colorado and Tennessee, leading three of the company’s fastest growing business units. Guthrie is a 35-year veteran of WE O’Neil.
Constructors/Industrial Managers has promoted Devyn Novak i Clint Thurston to the newly created director of operations positions. Both have been with the company for more than a decade, starting shortly after graduating from Colorado State University-Pueblo with a degree in construction management. Novak, who is based in Pueblo, has successfully led many of the company’s largest industrial projects, including the Whitlock Water Treatment Plant in that city. Projects that were led by Denver-based Thurston include an overhaul of a 600,000-pound car shredder at the Evraz Steel Recycling Plant that received ENR Best Project recognition in 2024.
Shelby Gustafson is the new Director of Business Development at AEI Denver. He leads efforts to expand the company’s presence in the region, strengthen relationships and support the execution of high-performance projects. Gustafson’s previous experience includes marketing roles for DIG Studio, DPR Construction and Adolfson & Peterson Construction.
Karen Simpson has been named director of Burns & McDonnell’s mountain region environmental group. In his new role, he oversees a team that provides environmental studies, consulting services, remedial services and design-build for environmental projects. He has more than 20 years of experience in environmental consulting and project management in areas including solar development, transmission lines, substations, pipelines and data centers.
Danielle Sharpmanaging director of Sanbell (formerly Sanderson Stewart), has been elected to the international board of directors of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the second Montana executive to hold the position. The first was Sanbell’s current president and CEO, Michael Sanderson.
David Morris has joined global architecture and design firm HKS as Principal and Office Director of its Denver studio. He has shaped some of Denver’s most recognized projects, including 1401 Lawrence and One Platte. Morris will lead the company’s regional growth strategy while strengthening its presence in the mixed-use, commercial office, residential, hospitality and healthcare sectors.
