Sweden-based contractor and developer Skanska has appointed a new supplier diversity manager for its New England regionthe company announced on September 30.
Cassandra Campbell will be based in Skanska USA’s Boston office, and her responsibilities will include developing and managing regional office supplier diversity strategies and collaborating with internal stakeholders to maximize opportunities for various subcontractors in New England.
Campbell will also host various business events and oversee the education of Skanska’s Supplier Diversity Program to employees who partner with various business ventures.
“Cassandra is a dynamic addition to the team who brings passion and experience for promoting and engaging with the diverse business community,” Joycelyn Yue, Skanska USA Building’s national director of supplier diversity, said in the release.

Skanska is not alone in emphasizing supplier diversity. Experts say that sourcing from local and underrepresented suppliers can expand a company’s supply chain, which has real benefits by creating alternative procurement methods beyond traditional channels.
Campbell previously worked for the Massachusetts Port Authority, holding numerous positions during her 27-year tenure there, to include senior accounts receivable specialist, accountant, internal audit staff, and most recently, senior administrator of minority and women’s business enterprise programs and building disadvantaged businesses.
In this most recent position, Campbell helped small and diverse companies and pioneered data analytics methods to improve diversity initiatives, according to the release. He was also responsible for all aspects of diversity compliance, coordinating relevant programs and advising Massport stakeholders on diversity matters.

Campbell received his bachelor’s degree in business management and his master’s degree in business administration from Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Quincy College in Quincy, Massachusetts.
