Baars backhoe bridge Shannon is currently very busy working in the port of Cotonou, Benin.

The project aims not only to improve the port, but also to expand the terminal for ocean-going ships.
A key factor in this project is the dredging work in the harbor basin and the areas around the docks.
The Shannon is a robust 42.72 x 14.63 x 2.89 m pontoon made up of modular pontoons; 9.5 m deep. This intelligent design provides the stability and maneuverability essential for efficient dredging operations, Baars said.
Equipped with two 24 m square modular spud pontoons and a 24 m long movable spudleg with winches, the Shannon can be easily moved without the aid of tugs.
