Innovative construction and civil engineering companies now have extra time to take part in an awards ceremony recognizing their achievements.

The deadline for the TechFest Awards has been extended to Friday, July 21, giving potential entrants just under two more weeks to submit their entries.

Celebrating innovation in civil engineering and construction, the awards will be held in the evening following the TechFest daytime conference on 23 November at the Hilton London Bankside, in partnership with Construction news and its sister title New Road Engineer.

This year there are 21 categories open for entries, 12 of which focus on how projects are leveraging new technologies. Among these are two new categories: Best Use of Technology: Digital Construction and Best Use of Technology in a Project. The latter will be divided in judging based on the value of the project.

There are also eight categories to reward organizations that have applied new technologies to boost their global business or established initiatives to increase digital skills. Some of the categories covering these areas include Technology Provider of the Year, Consultant of the Year: Technical Excellence, Contractor of the Year: Technical Excellence and Product Innovation of the Year.

The Innovation Accelerator award is also returning in 2023, with shortlisted companies receiving a free stand within the Start Up zone at this year’s event. These companies will also be presenting live to the category judges on the main stage in front of the conference delegates.

Other categories that will be judged live during the conference in a dedicated area of the exhibition are Best Use of Technology: Smart Data Collection in Construction and Best Use of Technology: Carbon Reduction.

There is also a category for people who lead and drive change in the sector during the early stages of their career. The Digital Rising Star category aims to recognize early career professionals who have helped develop innovative solutions or made a significant contribution to a project through their passion for technology.

Entries will be judged by an independent panel of over 60 key industry figures from government, client organizations and research bodies.

CN Editor Colin Marrs said: “With the construction and civil engineering sectors calling for solutions to help them meet the challenges they face, this is an ideal time to gain wider recognition for your efforts by participating at the TechFest Awards.”

NCE Editor Claire Smith said: “Bringing together the whole construction and civil engineering sector provides an opportunity for companies to showcase the innovations and technologies that are driving the industry and ensures that we are sharing the best ideas across sector”.

Entry to the awards is free and those interested can submit several innovations in the same category or submit proposals in as many categories as they wish.
