Skid steers have become an integral piece of equipment on today’s dairy farms and fitting them with the right set of tires can make a huge difference in everything from tire life and cost to performance of the team, it all adds up to dollars at the end of the period. day. A dairy in Wisconsin recently switched from a competitor’s miniature tire to our Galaxy Mighty Trac ND and saw first hand the huge difference tires can make.

Work at a dairy in Wisconsin

The Wisconsin dairy that tested our Galaxy Mighty Trac ND tires pulls 700 head and uses a Gehl 6640 skid loader to handle tasks like moving bedding, stacking manure, pushing feed and clearing yards. As in other dairies, the skid steer operates 365 days a year and spends a considerable amount of time on abrasive concrete, which can wear out tires quickly.

Before switching to our Galaxy Mighty Trac ND tires, the Wisconsin Dairy was getting about 700 hours on our competitor’s miniature tires. To date, the Mighty Trac ND tires have delivered 1,500 hours of grinding work, more than double our competitor’s offering, and still have tread to spare.

Don’t take our word for it, according to the Wisconsin dairy farmer, “the Mighty Trac is the best tire for longevity and traction we’ve had on this farm.”

The Galaxy Mighty Trac ND

What sets the Galaxy Mighty Trac ND apart from other miniature tires? First of all, its versatility. The Mighty Trac ND is designed to excel in a variety of conditions, whether it’s moving bedding in pens and barns, clearing smooth manure-covered floors, or clearing snow from gardens.

Maximum traction

It should come as no surprise that the Mighty Trac ND offers exceptional traction; after all, “Mighty Trac” is named after him. Helping give the tire its exceptional grip is an aggressive tread pattern and polygon-shaped blocks that offer more sharp edges in all directions. The Mighty Trac ND’s non-directional tread pattern improves performance in both forward and reverse motion, which operators who maneuver skid steers in tight spaces appreciate.

The Mighty Trac ND also features a 52:48 rubber-to-vacuum ratio that provides phenomenal traction on both hard and soft surfaces. The tread blocks alternate along the tire shoulder between reaching the edge and leaving an indentation, which turns the edges of the tire into active traction surfaces. When using the Mighty Trac ND, the dairy farmer in Wisconsin who tested our tires noticed that “there’s a lot more traction—you don’t slide as much.”

Another unique feature of the Mighty Trac ND is that there are brushes on each tread block to improve traction in wet and snowy conditions, not to mention manure. The advantage that the slats bring is especially beneficial in winter; the Wisconsin farmer who used our tires said, “Typically, operators would say, ‘we have to get different tires; we are sliding“,” and noted that “no one has said a word this year.”

Very good performance

400-400-GALAXY_MIGHTY_TRAC_ND_15_VIEW_copy_PDM3158_DEGREE_15_IMAGE_FileIt’s not just traction that the Mighty Trac delivers, it’s excellent overall performance. The tire produces a flat, even contact patch that is 10% larger than a leading competitor tire and features staggered centerline blocks that allow the tire to provide exceptional stability and a high quality ride on improved surfaces.

As the Wisconsin dairy farm that tested our tires noted, “They’re also a little taller, so they can clear alley scrapers better.” This helps make life a little easier, something everyone appreciates, especially those who work 24/7 like dairy farms.

Long useful life

The Galaxy Mighty Trac ND is built to last, which is music to the ears of operations that don’t have a moment to spend on downtime and time-consuming tire changes. The Mighty Trac ND is made with a special compound designed for cut and chip resistance as well as heat dissipation, heat is a tire’s number one enemy, making it ideal for long days in tough applications like those found on dairy farms.

Twice as nice

After getting over 1,000 hours since the first set of Galaxy Mighty Trac tires on his Gehl 6640 miniature, our Wisconsin farmer also replaced a set of worn tires on his old Gehl 4640 and couldn’t be more pleased with the your performance .

“You have to go up a slope to clear this barn,” said the Wisconsin farmer who testified about the Gehl 4640’s Mighty Trac tires. But the guy driving that skid loader says he had no problem with the Mighty Tracs. He said they just drive up and get a full scoop out of it.” Ultimately, the Wisconsin dairy found the Mighty Trac ND “tire grips better than any other tire we’ve had.”

A good powerful investment

As the Wisconsin farmer who tested our tires discovered, the Galaxy Mighty Trac ND leads the competition in all areas, from traction to performance and life. Ultimately, the benefits of the Mighty Trac – getting jobs done faster and more efficiently, with a more durable and cost-effective product – add up to a tire that delivers an exceptional total cost of ownership and means more money in your pocket at the end of the year.
