The United States Senate confirmed that Marcus Molinaro led the Federal Traffic Administration for a 71-23 vote on August 2 shortly before the senators were broken by their summer recession.
Molinaro previously exposed some of his priorities as FTA administrator during an audience of the Senate Committee in March. He then said that the agency has to promote innovation, streamline permission and use new technologies to help plan, build and operate traffic systems. The FTA must also use data to improve the safety and reliability of traffic cyclists, he added.
“I promise to support the public transport systems of our nation and to secure a safer, accessible and better connected America,” Molinaro said in a statement after the vote.
Molinaro had a mandate in the House of Representatives from 2023 to 24, which represented a section of New York from the Hudson Valley to the Finger Lakes, but lost his commitment to the re -election of November. He was a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee during his time in the House and sponsored a bill aimed at supporting the Attrak Station of North -American Law.
Industry groups, including the American Public Transport Association (APTA), the Workers Union of America (Twu), the general contractors associated with the New York State, and the New York Engineering Council of Engineering supported Molinaro’s nomination.
“He understands that modern and reliable public transport is not only vital for mobility, but also critical of economic growth, job creation and global competitiveness,” said Paul Skoutelas, a suitable president, in a statement.
And Twu said in a post on social media that Molinaro hopes will make workers “the highest priority” in the FTA. The union added that “he wants to work with him to move forward in our shared goals of safety and financial gains for traffic workers.”
With Molinaro confirmed as FTA administrator, the United States Department of Transportation said in a statement that the acting administrator Tariq Bokhari is now going on an attached role of administrator.
