Multiplex topped the contract league for the first time in more than two-and-a-half years in September, thanks to two London wins, according to data compiled by construction intelligence provider Glenigan.

The Australian multinational secured the £450m main contract for the super-prime St John’s Wood Square project, which involves demolishing a former barracks and building 179 homes.

The project, which will start next year and be completed in 2026, will include a swimming pool delivered within a listed riding school building and a new public space.

Multiplex was also confirmed at the £200m One Exchange Square project (pictured) in Bishopsgate in September. The company was first linked to the project in February, which involves refurbishing and expanding a 13-storey building while retaining 90 percent of its structure.

The client at work is LaSalle Investment Management, on behalf of the Malaysian fund Permodalan Nasional Berhad.

Multiplex last topped the table compiled by Glenigan in February 2021, when it also secured two major deals.

ISG had a strong month two, coming in second place with £309.6m secured from four contracts, including a £150m fit-out at Google’s offices in King’s Cross.

Morgan Sindall came third, thanks to 27 different contracts worth a combined £165.6m.

Fourth-placed RG Group secured the biggest single deal outside the capital in September, with a £135m contract for the Cirrus Point student accommodation scheme in Leeds.

The Kent-based firm was the only contractor to make the top 10 in both September and August, when it was ranked sixth.
