Flash floods in the spring of 2023 created severe drainage problems and washed away two existing crossings on SR-322. In this emergency repair, the contractor raised the road profile and installed 48-in. and 36 inches. reinforced concrete pipe in several locations, including near Eagle Valley Resort and the reservoir. These interventions redirected the flow of water and will help prevent future floods.
After assembling a staff and securing accommodation for the workers in just one week, the team quickly mobilized. Despite the challenge of working with multiple vendors to expedite deliveries, the project team completed the project one day ahead of schedule.
Being an emergency project, there were no design plans. The contractor leveraged state-of-the-art survey technology to meticulously map out the complexities of the project and build a comprehensive model that served as a model for accuracy and efficiency.
To mitigate the project’s impact on vital thoroughfares, the team constructed a bypass road. This solution facilitated uninterrupted access to properties located above the work, ensuring the flow of essential traffic and relieving pressure on local infrastructure.
Completed in just two weeks, this nearly $800,000 emergency installation project ensured immediate safety and accessibility for increased ridership over the 2023 Memorial Day weekend, while provide a durable solution to protect the road.
