Adolfson & Peterson Construction recently announced the appointment of John Herrera to president of the company’s Mountain States region, which includes Colorado and Wyoming. He gets it Thomas “Tommy” Horsting, who is retiring after 40 years at the firm. Herrera began his career as a field worker in 1992 and has risen through the ranks, serving as vice president of field operations since 2018. He will now lead more than 300 regional employees.
Javier Sevilla Roca is Flatiron’s new CEO after serving as president and chief operating officer. He joined the Broomfield, Colo.-based construction company in 2013. Roca previously served as CEO of Pulice Construction, a heavy general engineering and construction management company. He also previously worked for the global contractor Dragados, where he was a district manager in Spain. Flatiron, a unit of German contractor Hochtief AG, did not specify how Roca’s former positions would be filled.
Eric Kest has been named vice president and general manager of Brinkman Construction’s Denver office. He most recently served as director of Turner Construction Co.’s special projects division. and previously held leadership roles at Kiewit Building Group. Kesti is involved with the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp., serving on its executive committee and board of governors.

Scott Roux has joined HNTB Corp. as National Bridge Practice Leader and Senior Vice President. He brings more than two decades of experience leading the design, construction and inspection of complex bridge projects, the firm says. Roux is a board member of the American Council of Engineering Cos. in Washington state.
Saunders Construction has appointed Brian Archibald in the role of financial director. He has 17 years of accounting and finance experience in construction, software, renewable energy and other industries.
Chris Strawn has been promoted to vice president of civil engineering at Ware Malcomb. He has more than 25 years of experience in project management, site planning and development and rights acquisition. In his 10 years at Ware Malcomb, Strawn has been instrumental in business development and oversight of the engineering team. Prior to joining the company, he ran a Denver-based civil engineering firm for more than 10 years.

POWER Engineers Inc. has appointed Brad Hennessey to run its government services division. Most recently, he was director of the company’s distribution services business unit in its energy supply group. POWER also appointed Jack Roper as business unit director of its food and beverage group. He joined the company in 2003 following the purchase of industry specialist Blue Chip Engineering. Roper has held leadership roles including manager of Power’s electrical and facility controls department.
Ying Shang has been named dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. She was dean of the Talwar College of Engineering and Computer Sciences and professor of electrical engineering at the Indiana Institute of Technology. During his tenure, he led the $21.4 million expansion and renovation of the Zollner Engineering Center. Shang is also the founder and president of Shining Innovation, a consulting engineer and research company in electric vehicle battery integration and energy storage. She is a board member of the American Council on Education Women’s Network of Indiana.
