Dan Benford
Executive Director
AGC of Wyoming
“The construction market in southeast Wyoming and Cheyenne continues to be strong, especially as we continue to welcome new data center projects and a solar farm that will power local data centers,” says Benford.
As larger contracting firms move to take advantage of the construction boom, the influx “continues to squeeze the already tight labor market,” he adds. “The expectation is that the demand for construction projects will only increase in the coming years, with numerous projects underway or waiting to start soon.”
Some of these projects include the Meta and Microsoft data centers and the Northrup Grumman Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent program, which is replacing the current Minuteman III missile at the FE Warren Air Force Base area.
“The weakness in this market remains everything related to the workforce, whether it’s a well-trained workforce in the construction trades or the ability to attract talent due to a lack of affordable housing and services marketable that are needed to attract external talent.” adds Benford.
