ENR Northwest is pleased to announce the winners of its Regional Best Projects 2024 competition!

After several weeks of hard work, an independent panel of AEC experts reviewed 48 projects from Washington, Oregon and Alaska and selected 13 best projects and 15 awards of merit. Projects were evaluated based on the project team’s ability to overcome challenges, their contribution to the industry and community, safety and quality of construction and design.

The judges of the 2024 competition were:

  • Matt Clafton, Senior Vice President/Regional Manager, Alston Construction
  • Rick Fochtman, Executive Vice President, Business Development and Marketing, Bernards
  • Sam Holden, Project Executive, Skanska USA Building
  • Kabri Lehrman-Schmid, Project Superintendent, Hensel Phelps
  • Víctor Nuñez, head of business development, Turner Construction
  • Anne Timmermans, Senior Consultant, Parametrix

The Excellence in Safety competition was judged by Craig Decesare, HSE Federal Program Manager – Emergency Management, WSP and Brian Sorensen, Director of Safety at Exxel Pacific, Inc. The Excellence in Sustainability competition was judged by Don Davies, Co-Founder/Director. , Davies-Crooks Associates and Richard McDonald, Director of Corporate Sustainability at Sundt.

As always, to avoid conflicts of interest, our judges did not score any category in which their companies submitted proposals, and refrained from scoring projects in which they had any involvement.

All winning project teams, as well as Owner of the Year, Design Firm of the Year and Legacy Award winner, will be recognized at a pair of awards events in December.

In addition to selecting the category winners, the judges have also chosen three finalists each for Northern California and Southern California to be considered as ENR Northwest’s 2024 Projectwill be announced at the Best Projects event on December 17th in Seattle (click here for details).

This year’s winning projects in the major categories, listed below, will be described in depth in the December print issue of ENR Northwest.

Congratulations to this year’s winners!
