Compare the cost of a ready-to-use set-up, including delivery, assembly where required, hitch components, electrical connections, approved restraints and installation of any brake controllers. Then allow maintenance and storage.
For used equipment, inspect the frame, weld areas, coupling, ramps, hubs, bearings, tires, wiring, and brakes. The folding mechanisms and retention mounting points also deserve attention. The lack of identification or capacity information makes it more difficult to establish whether the equipment fits your vehicle.
If financing is offered, compare the total amount payable, fees, deposit and repayment period. A low monthly figure does not show the full cost. Get written terms from the actual supplier before making a purchase decision.
