Robins and Morton began work in July on two AdventHealth projects in Florida: a new off-site emergency room in Pasco County and a 240,000-square-foot vertical expansion at AdventHealth Daytona Beach.
Meadow Pointe’s off-site emergency room broke ground July 9 in a strategically located and rapidly developing area of Wesley Chapel between AdventHealth’s Wesley Chapel and Zephyrhills campuses. At more than 130,000 square feet, the $26 million facility will offer imaging and laboratory services and include 12 patient beds and two triage rooms. Construction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2025. Robins & Morton is the general contractor, with HuntonBrady as the architect.
Work began July 22 on the $220 million addition at AdventHealth Daytona Beach, where Robins & Morton is building vertical expansions totaling five stories in two existing areas on campus. The project will add 104 beds, including intensive care and progressive care beds, expand the cardiovascular intensive care unit and have a dedicated neuro-ICU unit. Other elements include an expanded sterile processing unit, an expanded pharmacy, and expanded imaging modalities.
When completed in the fall of 2026, the hospital will have 466 beds, up from 362; expand from 18 to 22 surgical suites; and a total of just under 1 million square feet. The expansion is designed to give AdventHealth the ability to rapidly increase inpatient beds and surgical suites in the future.
“As demand for our services continues to grow, we are committed to keeping pace by adding more inpatient beds, expanding our specialist care units and increasing our support services to meet the growing needs of communities and patients we serve,” David Weis, president and CEO of AdventHealth Daytona Beach and AdventHealth operations in East Volusia County, said in a statement. Angel Colon, chief operating officer of Robins & Morton, noted that he had worked on the Robins & Morton project that built the original hospital, which opened in 2009.
