Hannah Gott took this intriguing photo, which she calls “Lunchtime on the Jump System,” at the ongoing Houston Ship Channel Bridge project in Channelview, Texas. Gott, field engineer for Ship Channel Constructors, a joint venture between Traylor Bros. and Zachry Construction, says he likes to periodically document the progress of the estimated $1.3 billion project from the approach platform, which is his favorite place to capture the ongoing activity.
“In this photo, the south pylon [foreground] is about to begin preparations to jump into the next elevator, [and] the north pylon [background] has started to take shape on the leg of the east pylon,” explains Gott. “I like how from this vantage point you can see both pylons. Since the schedule for the north pylon is staggered slightly behind the pylon south, you can see the sequence of work done.
