ENR Midwest is pleased to name Willis “Rick” Conner, CEO/Partner of American Structurepoint, as the recipient of the 2025 Legacy Award.
This awards program recognizes industry veterans with many years of experience and long lists of contributions to their profession and community. In choosing this year’s recipient, ENR editors weighed several criteria, including each nominee’s history of innovation, career highlights, and commitment to industry and the surrounding community.
Conner joined American Structurepoint as an intern in 1971, and under his leadership the company’s revenues have grown dramatically and are projected to exceed $200 million by 2024.
The firm has grown from a dozen employees in the 1970s to more than 700, growing from a local company specializing in transportation projects to an AEC firm with 18 design centers across the country and multi-disciplinary underway during Conner’s tenure, including Architecture + Interiors, Traffic Engineering, Information Technology, Marketing Services, Planning + Economic Development and Program Management.
Appointed chairman of the firm in 1990, Conner has focused on developing a mix of public and private work, fostering client relationships and commercializing the firm’s engineering expertise.
He also mentors youth enrolled in DREAM Alive, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that serves at-risk urban youth in grades 7-12 to discover career paths that help them break the cycle of poverty.
