Intel Corp. He announced that he is slowing down the rhythm of two semiconductor manufacturing floors in the center of Ohio. According to the company, the first of the plants, known as Fabs, will be completed by 2030.

The $ 28 billion project includes the construction led by the 2.5 million square meters of buildings, including 600,000 square meters of clean room production space.

Intel originally said that he was expecting production to start at New Albany’s site, Ohio, in 2025, and later pushed in 2027. He now says he hopes to start production in the first FAB in 2030 or 2031, and the construction of the second FUB is expected to be completed by 2031 for operations from 2032.

“ As we continue to invest through our North -American places, it is important that we align the start of the production of our Fabs with the needs of our business and the demand of the broadest market, ” said Naga Chandrasraskaran, executive vice president, director general of world operations and director general of Intel Foundry Manufacturing, wrote the delayed time line for employees.

In November, Intel ended an agreement with Biden Administration officials for the North -American Department of Commerce to provide the company up to $ 7.86 billion in direct financing of the 2022 Chips and Sciences Law to support their work in Ohio, as well as other manufacturing projects in Arizona, New Mexico and Oregon. The delay promotes Fab’s first scheduled completion until the last year that the former -Secretary Commerce, Gina Raimondo, said that Biden administration officials aimed to have projects supported by the incentive program to begin production. Reuters reported last month that Trump administration officials were looking for some of the prizes in this program.

“We are adopting a cautious approach to ensure that we complete the project financially that configures [the manufacturing campus] To succeed to the future, “Chandrasakaran wrote.

In an annual report to the Ohio Development Department, Intel told officials that he spent $ 3.7 billion on the project at the end of 2024. In addition, the company assures that more than 6.4 million hours of work has spent the project so far. The crews have placed more than 200,000 concrete cuts, they have installed 497,000 linear feet of underground duct, installed 98,700 linear feet of underground pipe and installed 24,500 tonnes of receipt.

The report also lists some of the companies that worked on the project by 2024. In addition to Bechtel, they include Barnhart Plant Services LLC, CTL Engineering Inc., Currie & Brown Inc., EMH & T INC., Geotechnical Consultants Inc., Gilbane, Linde Engineering North America, Lithko Contracting LLC, MWH-Kokosing Venture and Ssoe Gric.
