A combination of creative resolution of problems, careful planning and lean management was key to offering the new Denver drinking water treatment plant in time, under budget and without safety incidents of lost time, said its project team.
As the team grew up to eight main design companies, “large” meetings maintained small challenges, according to the presentation, as the interested parties were able to distill and streamline solutions, improve the issuance resolution and reduce the times for shipping and information applications, which also promoted staff accounts. This approach also improved the team’s ability to act rapidly during emergency times.
The “families” who work were created at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic to minimize the effects of outbreaks, and a decision tracker helped maintain institutional knowledge and project calendar as the labor force changed throughout design and construction.
Located in a 183-hectare site next to the Ralston deposit northwest of Golden, Colo, the state-of-the-art facility can deal with 75 million gallons of water a day. To minimize the visual impact, several of its component structures were built on the mountain mountain, which also reduced the energy load needed to cool and heating, according to the project team.
Using hydroelectric turbines, the plant takes advantage of the influential pressure to generate energy and will become a clean energy producer annually. When it opens, the plant will be connected to the mains, but the equipment says that future modifications will allow the capacity outside the network through storage of the battery if possible and necessary.
