ZGF Architectts has been named the Midatlantic Design Firm of 2025 and will be recognized in the May East print number, which will also include the rankings Enr East Top Design.

The Ranking Enr East Engineers and Architects includes businesses that do business in Connecticut, Delaware, Washington, DC, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pensilvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia. The rankings are based on the total regional revenue of the design services of the participating companies, including the state income and various specialties and disciplines of design, as applicable.

The new ranking follows the consolidation of 2025 of the regional Editions of Enr in five new regions to reflect a continuous commitment to offer the most relevant and timely coverage to the readers, in line with the evolution of the landscape of the construction industry. The design firm of the year demonstrates success in the region from the point of view of growth and revenue, as well as innovation, creativity and commitment to return to its community. The previous winners of Midatlantic include, Salas O’Brien, RK & K, Alpha Corp., Herbert, Rowland & Grubic Inc. (HRG), Clark Nexsen, WSP, ECS MID-Atlantic, KCI Technologies Inc., Whitman Requardt and Associates, Johnson, Mirmhiran and Thompson and Pennoni Associates.

This year, ZGF will reveal the largest zero carbon zero car carbon building in Washington, DC. The firm that began in Oregon 70 years ago, but now has seven offices throughout North America contributes to its communities. In November, he celebrated the “Good Week” where employees participated in a series of activities, from live auctions to Zoom Jeopardy, to raise money (equalized by the firm) for local charitable organizations.

The charitable contributions of the Atlantic Mid-Atlantic firm exceeded $ 100,000, and benefited groups such as the coalition for the smartest growth, the community of hope, the promise of Liberty and so other people could eat.

ZGF also hosted the Big Green Comute, an event that encouraged local design companies to compete to see who can fight the most sustainable. At the end of the event, each company was encouraged to donate to the earlier -listed charitable organizations.

The firm’s 1+ program allows employees to provide pro-bons services for community projects, including recent design services for the new Central Kitchen DC headquarters and training cuisine. ZGF also directed efforts to the National Building Museum Ans through collaboration with Catholic University’s Capstone Studio every spring and collaboration with the national organization of the Minority Architects Foundation Fellows.

Some of the most notable projects of the firm in Midatlantic include:

Amazon / JBG Smith, Metropolitan Park Arlington, Vto.

The first phase of Amazon’s HQ2 established 2.1 million square meters of offices, retail and public park in 6.2 hectares and is the largest Leed Platinum V4 building built in the world. An underused green was transformed into a two -hectare park for the neighborhood. Protected bicycle lanes and intersections will be the first in Arlington County. Local retailers, coffee shops, and a daycare are 50,000 square feet along the floor level of the towers, introducing new services to South Arlington while enriching pedestrian experience.

Two glass towers are sculpted with deep mishap to allow light and air to filter the place while relating to the stairs and rhythm of the surrounding neighborhood. The project will have 100% renewable energy consumption until 2030. Buildings will feed on 100% renewable energy outside the site and on -site strategies will minimize the use of energy and water.

Redbrick LMD / The Douglass Washington, DC

The first phase of the bridge district, called Douglass, will serve as an angular stone of the future development of DC. The mixed use building will provide 750,000 square meters of market and affordable homes and 42,000 square meters of community retail in DC’s Ward 8. Located on land before not developed at the foot of the Frederick Douglass bridge, the bridge district will connect the neighborhood established in front of the communities in the south and the east of the anacostic river. The holistic design of the district of the bridge emphasis on sustainability and decarbonization. With a focus focused on the reduction of both operational and incarnated carbon, the Douglass is underway to become the largest multifamily residential building Ilfi zero-carbon in the world and the first in the DC region.

ZGF claims that its continued revenue growth in recent years is due to “a positive response from the market to the excellence, collaboration and innovation of design that focuses on delivery to each project, no matter how small it is.”

Last year, ZGF occupied the 33th place of the Midatlantic Enr Midatlantic Survey with $ 49.81 million in income. The previous year, the firm occupied number 45 with $ 37.50 million.
