
North immigration agents -Americans detained more than 100 people illegally in the United States during a joint agency, aimed at the application operation in two Tallahassee building sites, FLA.
The place where most arrests took place was the 359,900 -square -meter student housing project developed by Zimmerman near Florida State University and built by the general contractor Hedrick Brothers in Palm Beach.
Hedrick said that, although he fulfilled the investigation, his site was temporarily closed while researching agencies were present checking the identification and fingerprints of the workers.
“Federal immigration authorities took control of a place where our company is the general contractor. His actions focused on the employees of independent subcontractors of the site,” Hedrick said in a statement. “As we have publicly stated, we did not have a warning or awareness of this subject. We also said that we comply with the compliance with all the E-E-verifiers. Although we are sympathetic to the situation, we hope that all independent subcontractors will maintain the same legal standards as our company, as required by our contractual agreements with their companies.”
Multiiagency’s RAID was led by ICE Homeland Tallahassee’s security research, with significant assistance of ICE execution and elimination operations, Florida road patrol, Federal Research Office, Drug Application Administration, Tobaco Alcohol and Fire Weapons Office, Marshal Marshal of the Marshal Service, of internal income. The statement of the agencies said that there were illegal workers from Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and Honduras, among others, arrested in both places. Although the agencies did not provide a complete rupture of the arrested, immigration and customs said that more than half were arrested to cross the southern border several times or by multiple previous arrests while in the United States illegally.
Agencies said that a person was taken in state custody to resist his arrest and is accused of four accusations of assault on law agents, and another person was arrested to try to point out a weapon to officers.
“This type of application actions aims to eliminate illegal employment, considering responsible employers and protect employment opportunities for the legal labor of America,” said Nicholas Ingegno, the special agent of the ICE HSI Tallahassee assistant. “HSI Tallahassee, who works with our state, local and federal partners, will continue to protect public security by applying the immigration laws of our nation.”
While the first Trump administration and the administrations of Obama and Bush before making execution raids aimed at building sites and other jobs, the ice significantly reduced the actions of application of the workplace, including incursions to the construction sites, during the administration of Biden. The Governor of Florida, Ron Desantis (R), writing on the X social network platform, praised the application of state law to “have a huge impact on the efforts of the application of immigration”. He also said that “the Federals pursue the subcontractor responsible for hiring workers illegal aliens.”
A spokesman for Governor Desantis referred to all questions about who is the subcontractor in question to immigration and the application of customs. A spokesman for the agency did not immediately answer the questions outside of his published statement. A spokesman for Hedrick Brothers said he has no more information on the Governor’s publication and discussions with all his subcontractors on compliance.
Regarding the loss of more than 100 workers in a place will affect pearl and possibly other projects, a public relations representative of Hedrick Brothers said, in response, “ we are sure that as a company with decades of success that we will have the ability to ensure the success of the completion of the projects we are currently working on and that we will work on the future. ”
