During the Conference of the American Institute of Architects of 2025 held in Boston on June 3, Autodesk launched Arcgis for form, a public beta for a cloud -based connection that connects the design environment of Esri Argis and Autodesk.
“What customers can do with this update is to incorporate a wide range of contextual geographical data of arcgis, which includes buildings, zoning, roads, limits, images, a large amount of data,” said Carl Christensen, Autodesk Product Vice President. Christensen is also the co-founder of Start-up Spameker, whose software became the basis after Autodesk acquired the signature. “From a form perspective, that allows architects and planners to gather information at the beginning of the design process. This has been our mission for a long time. Set up your project in the best possible way.”
Although the capacities of form have focused on the conceptual design in the early years of its development, Autodesk still wants to turn it into the design environment for architecture and engineering, passing the data from one design stage to the other.
The Arcgis in form connection has been something that both Autodesk and the giant GIS ESRI have spoken as the goal of their ongoing strategic collaboration. ARCGIS GEOBIM, an ESRI product, was the first data environment that allowed the data movement through the systems and the visual visualization of directory trees to help simplify the process of obtaining Arcgis data by revit or civil3D. The reboot of map functions to parametric data has been a point of pain for a long time for engineers.
“Our augmented reality technology is based on visualizations that function as counterparty of the physical world, so the perfect use of public and owner space data is essential for customers,” said Dana Chermesh-Resp, founder and CEO of the incite technology technology firm. His company uses augmented reality to convert real estate data and plan data into interactive and accessible experiences for the interested parties of the project, including developers, city governments, architects and engineers. “The ARCGIS interface for Autodesk form is easy to use and raise awareness, while access to data is intuitive for AECO professionals even limited to any experience.”
Form has been connected to Autodesk Docs, the company’s AEC cloud and the owner’s data deposit since 2024, and this launch expands this connection, achieving flow of work in Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Docs users can now access the form plate, which is an unlimited displacement work space. Form is now available as a navigation module in ACC and subscribers in the AEC collection of Autodesk will be able to change between the ACC construction tools and the form of design tools.
