Nova Scotland announced the plans at the end of July to jump out the wind industry outside the Canada sea, revealing four developed areas for development, the first in the country, placed on the province’s coast, with a goal of producing 5 GW until the end of the decade. The Prime Minister of the province, Tim Houston, also pointed out more ambitious plans for the “Wind West” megaproject with the aim of producing 40 GW of wind power out of the sea for potential export throughout the country and the United States.

The boost of the wind on the high seas presents itself as part of a wider effort of the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, elected earlier of the previous year, to build the country’s “energy domain” by reducing its dependence on energy imports in the United States and other nations, including both fossil fuels and renewables.

“The new Canada government is ready to quickly monitor projects across the country [it] An energy superpower, “Carney published on social media after a meeting with oil and gas executives in May.” We all agree: it’s time to build, “he added.

Carney is considered as a defender of the net energy of past papers as president of the investment infrastructure Brookfield Asset Management and head of his transition investment and as a special envoy of the United Nations for Climate Action and Finance. But he undertakes to develop all forms of energy, “it is time to turn Canada into an energy superpower in both clean and conventional energy,” he said in the support of the construction of a “energy corridor”, although with little details on the projects in the “national interest” that will be included.

Cleans the energy

But related to Wind Offshore, Nova Scotland said that the province is planning to issue offers before the end of the select plots within the development area, in a process managed by the energy regulator Offshore Canada-Nova Scotia. It aims to graduate the development of up to 5 GW, the use of the current maximum energy of New Scotland, by 2030, with proposals to take into account the floating and fixed wind projects.

“With some of the largest wind speeds in the world, Nova Scotia has the potential to become a clean energy superpower,” Houston said on July 29, saying that Wind West would produce 27% of Canada’s energy needs, but would require the construction of infrastructure to deliver power west. He said that a combination of provincial, private and federal investments would be needed, and cited a preliminary costs of $ 5 billion to $ 6 billion, but this could reach $ 10 billion, according to reports.

Any other place on the east coast of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador announced in June that the legislation approved to allow the province to also develop high sea wind. Other uses for the wind outside the sea are the supply of the nascent Green Hydrogen Industry in Canada, with a $ 4.45 million New Scotland plant received environmental approval last year, and former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau signed a supply agreement by 2022 with Germany.

The wind construction of New Scotland, as well as the development of fossil fuel projects, could also receive a boost from the federal legislation that has an effect on June 26, which allows the National Government the rapid development of certain “nations construction” projects. A new federal projects office that will open in September aims to achieve a declared objective to generate approves of the project in two years.

US connection?

The possible wind exports on the high seas to the states of New England are gaining momentum, as they face a gap in the expected domestic production of Trump’s administration actions to limit the growth of the outside wind, the most recent cancellation of leases of federal oceans planned in Maine, New York and the states of the Central Central Central.

The Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs Executive Office could try to acquire electricity from the wind farms planned in Canada, according to a report from Canada. National observerAn online news -focus on research reports.

Massachusetts faces a legal period to block contracts for at least 5.6 GW of wind out of the sea by 2027, but only a project project – Vinyard 1 – is under construction. It is planned to add about 800 MW to the network by the end of 2025. Other state projects planned or the delays of the face. A spokesman for the Energy Office said he is studying collaborations to take advantage of “important opportunities to build new wind projects on the coast and off the coast throughout Canada and the North region -East”.

Similarly, Maine keeps track of the wind development out of the sea in Canada and considering how regional efforts can offer reliable and affordable power, modern infrastructure and great economic benefits, “said the Governor’s Energy Office in a statement. The workers who are citizens of the tribal nations or members of the international unions could work on theoretically on projects in Canada, Business of the International Union of the International Union of the Local Union 7 and the Vice President of Maine Tap-Cio, in the Maine Morning Star. But he pointed out possible complications of current commercial tensions.

The two -thirds of the Canadians want the federal government to prioritize clean energy development, said a study published last month by Clean Energy Canada. But clean economy tax credits introduced by the previous liberal government are slowly maintained. A spokesman for Finance Canada said he is now “in the process of completing” tax credits for the electricity supply chain and EV.

In the meantime, market observers expect possible impacts of what is called a “milestone” of July 30 of the highest court of the United Nations that the nations could violate international law if they do not take action to mitigate climate change. While not binding, the ruling of the International Court of Justice could increase legal arguments in the processes against countries and companies seeking repairs.

The court said that climate change was an “urgent and existential threat” for humanity and countries had a “duty to cooperate” to address it.
