Ej Antoni, the selection of President Donald Trump to lead the U.S. Labor Statistics Office, has criticized the comments that he suggested that the agency suspend its monthly work reports, which economists say that they could have high -reach impacts, including for the construction industry.

Trump appointed Antoni as a candidate for Commissioner BLS in a social media place on August 11, after eliminating the former Agency, Erika Mtentary, a federal career manager, on August 1. The President said elsewhere that the latest work report showing weaker hiring in July than expected, as well as revisions that reveal a slower recruitment in May and June than originally reported, was “ rigorous to do the Republicans, and it seemed bad, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, with a bad appearance, Bad, with a bad look, with a bad look, with a bad look, with me, with a bad look, with a bad look, with a bad look, with a bad look, with a bad look, with a bad look, with a bad look, and me, with a look, with the fact that, with my, with a kind of triumph, with me, with a TRUE aspect.

BLS routinely reviews the data from previous two months to incorporate additional data, although the adjustments of the latest work report were unusually large: to coat 258,000 jobs combined from previous reports. Last August, BLS reviewed its hiring numbers from March 2023 to March 2024, which led to a reduction of 0.5% of the period.

In an interview with Fox News Digital before the Trump Nomination announcement, Antoni, an economist in Chief of the Heritage Conservative Foundation, said that BLS should suspend its monthly work reports and continue with quarterly reports until the data collection issues are “corrected”. This worried about a wide range of economists, including conservatives, with a potential partisan manipulation of reports on the importance of data and confidence in their precision.

“The disappearance of the monthly employment report would be a great step in the wrong direction,” said Ken Simonson, an economist in chief of the General Associated Contractors of America, by email.

Having to wait longer for the data would mean that policymakers should use provisional estimates less timely or more speculative, he added. For the construction industry, project owners would probably doubt to continue with new numbers. It would also be harder to determine where construction is growing or reduced without the current launching schedule of state and local data along with national numbers.

Kristen Swearingen, vice -president of the government affairs of associate builders and contractors, said in a statement that “the following BLS chief defends the standards and reputation of the Government’s statistical arm is essential so that the business community has verifiable, in fact and timely data.”

He added: “ABC hopes to hear the knowledge of the candidate on the modernization of the administration of the survey to ensure a robust analysis of the country’s work and work landscape and how to improve the [the U.S. Labor Dept.] The deeply defective process of salary and time division to determine the prevailing pay rates with BLS data. “”

In the SAGE Economics blog, Zack Fritz and Anirban Basu of the SAGE Policy Group, Basu, is also the main economist of ABC, he was concerned about the qualifications of Antoni, as well as the potential that could apply a partisan approach to paper.

“ Antonio’s errors are common, short and include not understanding the operation of the import price index, using a dual axis and dual to make the non -connected series seem to coincide, inappropriately fitting on data series to suggest data manipulation and saying that we have been in recession twice in the last three years, ” they wrote.

The Heritage Foundation appointed Antoni as an economist in May. Her past experience includes work on Think Tanks that are based on conservatives, such as Unleash Prosperity and Texas Public Policy Foundation. Fritz and Basu point out that he has not worked with great statistics collection processes such as those needed in BLS.

“Ej Antoni is not qualified to run the BLS,” they wrote, contrasting their experience with that of William Beach, which Trump appointed as curator during his first administration.

In his post calling Antoni to lead BLS, Trump stated that Antoni “will guarantee that the released numbers be honest and accurate.”

Antoni nomination requires confirmation of the Senate. An audience has not yet been scheduled.

BLS, meanwhile, launched its last producer price rate on August 14, which showed an increase in construction entry prices.
