The rehabilitation of $ 239.5 million from the American River Bridge to Sacramento, California, will reach a milestone this month, with the joint company CM/GC of Granite Construction Inc. and California’s engineering contractors completing the final cover.
Built in 1954 as an extensions of two lanes separated north and south, the 1.5 mile crossing connecting the city center and the east of Sacramento was expanded to three lanes in 1966 without additional structural support. Since then, the roof has had extensive cracked and spoiled, with a large scour around piles of foundation.
New new piers will help support the widening bridge.

Early collaboration with the state regulators allowed the team to speed up the permit process and begin construction in January 2022, while the design was still underway. The project includes nine new pillars 50 feet wide, ranging from 40 feet to 60 feet; 15 averages on average 30 feet high; and the superstructure for the replacement of the existing cover.
To protect the river and its salmon tracks in winter, much of the work is made of boats, with a worn -and -cup of worn sheets that provide access to the Moll tracks by mitigating the route.

According to Granite, the next phase calls for changing the traffic on the route 51 of the return state to the original alignments and starting the construction on the class 1 bicycle route throughout the bridge. Scheduled to end next summer, the widening junction will have four complete shoulders, with a hov lane in each direction. New Soundwalls updates and seismic updates are also part of the project, funded by the Protection and Protection Operation Program of the California State Road and a subsidy of the active transport program.
