When it was formed almost 35 years ago, CAC Industries was a single triumphant pony: a specialist focused on civil sites such as public services, paving and concrete. It has not been stopped since then.

The Long Island City firm has grown at all stages of its history, starting to work for city agencies such as the Department of Transportation and the Department of Environmental Preservation, and then adding large private clients such as the United States and Beechwood Men’s Tennis Association.

He soon expanded the size of his jobs, some of the main projects of the road, sewer and largest water in the city, and the extent of his portfolio. In the early 2000’s, CAC added high painting works for the metropolitan transport authority and built the second phase of the Manhattan Alta Line.

Then in 2015 he added another key specialty: Managing Condison Gas’s main work for construction projects that navigate through the Spaghetti-Web infrastructure on New York streets.

Today, CAC manages the main projects in the city through solo offers and joint strategic companies, with revenue of $ 275 million only by 2025. Current tasks include East Side’s coastal resilience of Manhattan, 2.4 miles of coastal resilience in the city, the City Superstorm Answer in the city, and multiple duties in Miles of the second Avenue Phase 2, including a $ 182 million public service transfer contract.

The signing of 500 people is not made, as Michael Capasso, president and Chief Executive Officer of the CAC, describes, with the plans to expand nationally and worldwide, while hiring new areas such as design design construction. This portfolio, together with a single community service and service model, which is why the CAC is the New York CAC 2025 specialized contractor.

Some of the main projects of the CAC:

East Side Coast Resilience Project

CAC Industries, as a main contractor and member of the joint company, leads the installation of this great effort designed to protect the neoyorcan people from future storm tests and the increase in sea level along the seafront of the East River of Manhattan. The project integrates the flood protection infrastructure, the useful updates and the revitalization of community spaces and the services of the Park.

Subway Secondue, Phase 2 – Relaughter of Public Services and Remediation of the Building

The company works for the Metropolitan Transport Authority in a project that involves an extensive transfer of public services and a repair of buildings in preparation for the construction of cutting and coverage of the metro station on 106 street in Manhattan.

207th Street Yard Sewer Line Relotally B Division

CAC has recently completed the transfer project of the sewerage line to 207th Street Yard, one of the two major heavy review facilities that serve the New York City metro system. The 45-month-old effort was to install 2,600 linear feet of micro-adjusted sewer pipes under an active high metro line, as well as the construction of holes and deep sewer regulators.

Tell us some of your current high profile projects.

MC: We are in Package 1 of the Second Avenue Subway Extension of the 96th Street in 125th. There are four packages. Over [the first]We have the entire utility transfer package, which is electric, gas, sewer, water and some main steel water. It is also based on existing buildings and reinforcement of their specific foundations. We are working on 105 to 112th Street, [the same stretch where] Package 3 will be the open section of the new tunnel.

We have … the conditions of the surface different from the planes and [we] Address these changed conditions and continue to advance the project. We are achieving public services so it’s not in the middle of the street where [they] Make the cut open.

We are also a subcontractor dedicated to pack 2 in Helmar International, which will be a civil work of micro-adapted and heavy at the new stations on the streets 106, 116 and 125. For package 3, which is a design design project, we have introduced a [statement of qualifications] With CPI, the same tri-ventila that we are working on the coastal resilience on the east side [flood protection system].

For East Side’s resilience, we made an offer in January 2021 at the main level and started in September 2021 with CPI. You have three different companies that bring three sets of different skills – you need a lot of resources to build a job like this.

We made the carbon fiber wrap of the oil-o-state pipes, which are high voltage power lines. We have installed all the sewers, the water network, we did some restoration and paving work, as well as gas work, electrical work, steam work. If you wanted to look in the sections, I would say that much of our work is from the street level, the level of grade down.

And we have just finished up to date on New York City 207th Street. It is a train storage and maintenance facility. We moved and headed for a sewer through the gardens from 215 street … to 10th Avenue, until the 10th Avenue until 207th Street. We had axes that were grouped into a ray to support the micro-adjustment operation.

Tell us a little the story of the CAC.

CAC by numbers

34 – Years in the business
571 – Number of employees
$ 105.3 million: Public Services Income, 2024
$ 169.88 million: Transportation, Sewer, Rev. Water, 2024
$ 275.18 million – New York and National income 2024

MC: It was founded ’91 … We made our first public works subcontract in 1994, and then we did our first private job, a joint company: we made the place of place, the usefulness of the site, the concrete of the place, the asphalt of the place for the Flushing Meadow Tennis Center, where the United States Open is located. And we just started doing work afterwards and grown since then.

The root of the company was … work for New York [DEP and DOT]. Then we branched over the years, whether it were larger private places of place or jobs that had a more field of work in accordance with DEP. We did a great private job for Arverne By The Sea, a residential development in Rockaway, Queens [by] Beechwood Men and Benjamin Development. All these new roads, sewers and water network that fit the DEP and Dot standards had to be built.

We got into some strategic joint companies [for] Mta high structure paint. We also created phase 2 of the high line in Manhattan in 2010. At that time, in 2015 we set a strategic objective to involve the gas work. Now, we are one of the biggest contractors of Conda Gas in the city.

Michael Capasso

“In 2015, we set a strategic objective to involve the gas work, and now we are one of its greatest gas contractors in the city.”

—Michael Capasso, President and CEO, CAC Industries

What is following CAC?

MC: We have begun to bring others to the team with a great experience in other types of heavy civilian projects to really grow our portfolio. We begin to look at design design opportunities.

We will keep the nucleus (the road, the sewer and the water work) and we will build it with all these joint strategic companies and new opportunities.

We are also looking for opportunities in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida. And the company works on an opportunity to open a division in Dubai … but we are being slow and methodical.

Tell us a bit of work culture in CAC

MC: We turned into a 100% employee property company, an ESOP, on April 30, 2024. Includes all union traders. It’s not just management. This is a key element as we look into the future.

And one of our basic efforts is the CAC Cares. Last month in Brooklyn, in one of our projects, the 73rd precinct NYPD, we donated 500 backpacks to local children for school. We also make Halloween candy gifts, Thanksgiving turkey gifts. We have given a playground in Marble Hill Houses in the Bronx.

We disturb the daily life of the communities with the work we have to do. These are ways to return.
