The renovation of the Galen College of Nursing Orlando Campus presented complex challenges that required careful coordination, flexibility and problem solving the design and construction team.

The 31,000 -square -meter campus project involved a complete inner demolition of the existing structure, erasing the path for a complete reimagination of the academic space. The new design offers extensive classrooms, advanced nursing simulation laboratories, quiet study areas and collaborative rooms, all designed to promote a well -rounded student experience.

One of the main centers of the project was the installation of simulation laboratories, equipped with real manikins that simulate breathing, hemorrhage and parir, along with hospital quality medical equipment to replicate real world health scenarios. The environment allows students to gain practical experience in a controlled, but realistic clinical environment.

Collaborative classrooms and study spaces were designed to promote active learning, group discussion and students’ interaction. The quiet areas and the individual study areas provide flexibility for various learning styles, while the rupture halls promote peer collaboration.

The project required the construction of Layton to manage the construction activities in a high -security building without interrupting the operations of the existing tenants. The maintenance of strict security protocols while carrying out a complete interior demolition and extensive renewal work demanded continuous coordination with the management of buildings and continuous communication to ensure safety, minimize interruptions and preserve the operations of the tenants throughout the construction.

Contracting was also a considerable challenge, especially taking into account the accelerated projects schedule. With the fluctuating lead times of critical materials, such as specialized medical equipment, simulation technology and construction systems, the team adopted a proactive contracting approach. The early participation of the sellers, the strategic repurchase and the delivery in time helped prevent expensive delays and kept the project time intact.

The $ 4.5 million project was completed below the budget and was scheduled in seven months.
