The firm fixed price, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract is primarily focused on modernizing dry docks, production facilities, utilities and waterfront infrastructure, according to a NAVFAC press release.
“This award highlights AECOM’s technical leadership and reinforces our role in providing infrastructure that strengthens fleet readiness and operational resiliency,” Karl Jensen, executive vice president of AECOM’s government business, said in the statement.
The contract includes a base year and four option years, with a maximum of 60 months of execution or until the maximum value of the contract is reached, whichever occurs first. AECOM and Stantec JV procured the contract competitively through the sam.gov web in accordance with federal architect-engineer selection procedures, according to NAVFAC.
The project supports the Navy’s ongoing modernization of its public shipyards through the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program, an initiative focused on integrating investments in industrial infrastructure, facilities and equipment, according to NAVFAC.
Other projects under the initiative include work at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility in Hawaii, the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility in Washington state and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia, according to the AECOM statement.
AECOM recently completed a area development plan for the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, which adds to its nearly 100-year relationship with the Navy, according to the company.
Stantec has already worked with NAVFAC at all four shipyards. Through the shipyard’s infrastructure optimization program, the Canadian company is currently under contract to provide services at Pearl Harbor Shipyard and Puget Sound Shipyard.
