A company specializing in concrete structures has seen a 75 percent increase in profits as its contract begins.

Northamptonshire-based MPB Structures posted a pre-tax profit of £3.9m in the year to the end of September 2022, compared with £2.2m a year earlier and the £2.1m in 2020.

Turnover also increased, to £99m compared to £81.9m in 2021.

The company mainly works in the construction of concrete frames for commercial, student and residential developments, as well as civil infrastructure.

It operates as a premier contractor for national developers, homebuilders and general contractors and is listed in Construction News’ Top 10 Concrete Contractors.

MPB’s annual report said turnover growth was down to an increase in contract starts and highlighted “the breadth of work undertaken, the client base and the directors’ assessment of business risk”.

Directors described the year’s performance as “satisfactory given the unprecedented challenges the construction industry has faced”.

The company averaged 70 employees last year, down from 77 in 2021.

MPB has worked on major projects including the Battersea Power Station regeneration scheme and the redevelopment of Birmingham New Street station.
