An employee of a construction equipment supplier in El Paso, Texas, died Sept. 2 while performing maintenance at a construction site in the city.
According to a statement from the El Paso Police Department, Ramiro Aaron Sanchez, 36, an employee of Wagner Equipment, was working on heavy machinery around 10 a.m. when the equipment fell on top of him, killing him. “At this time, foul play is not suspected, and the investigation remains ongoing,” the police statement added.
Permit records from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show ongoing active construction in the same area as the crash, tied to the Sage Park development at 7255 Paseo Del Norte, which includes a four-building, two-interior construction project with completion dates between September and December 2026. It is not confirmed if the crash site is one of those permitted projects.
According to local media reports, Sanchez died at the scene. The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration also responded to the incident and is investigating working conditions and machinery maintenance protocols at the site. No contractor has been identified.
“We are saddened by the tragic incident that occurred,” Wagner Equipment said in a statement posted on social media. “Our thoughts are with the family, friends and all those affected by the individual.”
The statement added: “Wagner Equipment is cooperating with the appropriate authorities, and as the investigation remains ongoing, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
