Employee ownership, disciplined growth and a maturing safety culture helped KC Painting & Coatings (KCPC) earn ENR Texas & Southeast’s 2026 Specialty Contractor of the Year honor for the Southeast region. KCPC’s profile will be published in the December 2026 print issue of ENR Texas & Southeast.
Headquartered in Alpharetta, Ga., with satellite offices in Savannah, Ga.; Huntsville, Ala.; and Dallas, the specialty paint and coatings contractor has expanded its footprint in the Southeast and Texas, with revenue of $47.7 million in 2025 and projecting more than $91.8 million by 2026, nearly doubling year-over-year growth. The number of employees has grown along with revenue, from 83 employees in 2025 to 86 by the first part of 2026, with 23 employees gaining promotions during this period as KCPC works to build leaders and promote from within.
The company’s growth has been fueled in part by a strengthened position with top-tier general contractors and an expanded bonding capability, now scaled to single projects of $10 million or more, which has allowed KCPC to pursue larger commercial contracts and multi-facility contracts. The company has also grown its high-margin specialty divisions such as industrial floor coverings, epoxy systems and elastomeric waterproofing.
Among the flagship projects of KCPC during this period was the work for the construction of DPR in the Thomas A. Fanning Student-Athlete Performance Center at Georgia Tech, a 100,000-square-foot, multi-story facility built to LEED Gold standards. The scope included painting, wall cladding and high performance coatings in environments ranging from strength and conditioning areas to hydrotherapy and recovery rooms, with teams working around exposed massive timber framing and glass curtain walls.
KCPC also completed the four-story, 97,400-square-foot Independent Bank Operations Center in Muscle Shoals, Ala., for Robins & Morton, and renovated the Von Braun Center Concert Hall in Huntsville for Turner Construction in a project that required incremental and after-hours work to keep the venue active.
KCPC marked its 10th year in business in 2025, the same year it earned bronze-level recognition in the Georgia STEP Safety Program of Associated Builders and Contractors and a national ENR ranking of #13 among painting contractors.
